  3. Kaiser Family Foundation - focuses on national health issues, as well as the U.S. role in global health policy.
  4. Mathematica Policy Research, Inc - applies expertise at the intersection of data, methods, policy, and practice.
  5. National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education - promotes public policies that enhance Americans' opportunities to pursue and achieve high-quality education and training beyond high school.
  6. New America Foundation - dedicated to renewing the promise of America by continuing the quest to realize our nation's highest ideals, honestly confronting the challenges caused by rapid technological and social change, and seizing the opportunities those changes create.
  7. Pew Forum on Religious and Public Life - seeks to promote a deeper understanding of issues at the intersection of religion and public affairs.
  8. The Urban Institute - promotes insights that inform consequential choices about the well-being of people and places in the United States.
  9. United States Institute for Peace - devoted to the nonviolent prevention and mitigation of deadly conflict abroad.

  1. The Brookings Institution - conducts in-depth research that leads to new ideas for solving problems facing society at the local, national and global level.
  2. The Economic Policy Institute - researches the impact of economic trends and policies on working people in the United States. 
  3. Center for American Progress - policy institute that is dedicated to improving the lives of all Americans, through bold, progressive ideas, as well as strong leadership and concerted action.

Right-Leaning Think Tanks

  1. The Ayn Rand Institute - promotes Objectivism, the philosophy developed by Ayn Rand.
  2. Lexington Institute - focuses mainly on security-related issues, including defense spending, military technology, economic competitiveness, energy policy and logistics. 
  3. Institute for Policy Innovation - focuses on issues related to economic growth, innovation, limited government and individual liberty.
